Berlin (dpa / bb) – Against one of the two main suspects of the right-wing extremist series of attacks in Berlin-Neukölln, the trial at the district court in a zoo begins today in another trial. The 39-year-old is said to have insulted and hit a taxi driver in the Steglitz district in November 2021. A 34-year-old is said to have been involved. The charges include insult, dangerous bodily harm, coercion and illegal motor vehicle racing.
The 39-year-old is said to have blocked the taxi driver’s path with his vehicle. When he spoke to him, the accused are said to have insulted him. According to the investigation, the 39-year-old is said to have hit the man with a baton in the thigh area before the duo continued their journey. A short time later, the taxi driver discovered the 39-year-old’s car on the road and wanted to pursue it. The defendant tried to escape at high speed. He then stopped and hit the taxi driver with his fist.
The 39-year-old has become known as one of the main suspects in the case of the right-wing extremist attack series in Berlin-Neukölln. The Berlin State Criminal Police Office (LKA) attributed the series to more than 70 acts between June 2016 and March 2019, including many arson and property damage. Victims were people who fought against right-wing extremism. The two suspects had been the focus of police for years. It was not until August 2021 that the evidence was sufficient to bring charges in the case.
