Toulouse: why they are still demonstrating against the vaccine pass
Five hundred people worked this Saturday, February 19 in Toulouse. Against the past, but also against government policy.
The demonstrations on Saturday, against the health and then vaccination pass, remain anecdotal in terms of the number of demonstrators – around 500 again this Saturday – but not in terms of their regularity. A few days ago, however, the government announced a reduction in health measures. The lifting of the vaccination pass could take place in mid-March, depending on the indicators…
This Saturday, February 19 in the event, Jean-Jacques Fiocre, catering trainer in an aeronautical company, yellow vest from the start, believes that “it does not change anything”. With his copies of Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s program in his hands, which he sells for €3, he calls for “maintaining the pressure until the elections” on April 10 (presidential).
“For 6 months, I no longer go to the restaurant, to the theater”
Helen, with her British accent, is still “shocked” by the introduction of this health pass. For more than 6 months, she no longer goes to the restaurant, to the cinema, to the theater, no longer sees her friends. “It’s hell,” she said. “Yet I would have had this vaccine… but I refuse this obligation, this blackmail of freedoms…” As for the government’s project, Helen does not believe in it. She believes that “lifting the pass is not repealing it. They could very well put it back in place in the spring…”
Gisèle, also retired, puts on her yellow vest, as for many months. “I always carry the fight for social and fiscal justice. We are approaching the end of the five-year term, and the injustices are still widening ”.
“For the vaccine, we were told that it would provide us with absolute protection. However, it turns out that it is ultimately only a treatment for the most fragile people…” When asked if the vaccination policy has not prevented thousands of hospitalizations in intensive care, Gisèle replies that ” Admittedly, this vaccine or treatment has made it possible to lower the rate of admission to intensive care… but too frequent reminders are not possible… it prevents the body from reacting effectively. »
Jackie comes from Castelsarrasin every Saturday to demonstrate
Like Gisèle, Jackie demonstrates every Saturday, after an hour’s drive from Castelsarrasin. For her, the vaccine is a “therapeutic trial”. On her sign, she thanks about fifteen “alternative” scientists or influencers. “I have more confidence in them than in the scientific committee affiliated with Macron, which rejected the treatments of Covid, to “favor the big pharmaceutical groups”. The “grand conspiracy” and the “trusted media”, Jackie is convinced: we do not tell him the “truth”.
