Super League – Toulouse Olympique is no match for Salford – Rugby League
For its second Super League match, Toulouse Olympique went to the lawn of Salford.
Joseph Paulo has this time been chosen to accompany Lucas Albert at the hinge while Tony Gigot remains at the back. Expected firmly from the start of the match, the TO was coldly picked up by a try from Ken Sio in the first minutes (4-0). The French put themselves in the direction of travel but drop an important ball. Following, Salford will double the bet, still by Sio (8-0). Toulouse suffers and does not materialize its highlights. Brierley has already scored the Red Devils’ third try. Sneyd converts and it’s 14-0.
And it does not stop there since before the half hour of play, the English will add to the bill. It was Salford’s new signing, Marc Sneyd, who scored the fourth try he converted. Salford breaks and leads 20-0. Fortunately, Toulouse will come out of the water. Marion and Pélissier enter and bring juice. On a kick from Paulo, Chris Hankinson scored his first try which he converted. Toulouse returns to 20-6. The TO pushes to reduce the mark but lacks precision. Finally, the two teams return to the locker room with a score of 20-6.
Toulouse dominated
As soon as the recovery, Toulouse will return to the game. Decisive passer on the first try, Paulo is this time at the conclusion. Hankinson transformed and the TO is only led 20-12. But the euphoria does not last. Salford will regain a bigger advantage as Tim Lafai scored the fifth try for the Red Devils who will now lead 26-12. We have reached the hour mark and Toulouse have 20 minutes left to get back into the game.
But Salford remains solid in defense and prevents any Toulouse attempt. A TO team that does not seize opportunities because of inaccuracies and will be punished. Ken Sio, again, comes to register his third try of the day after recovering a kick from Brodie Croft. Sneyd is imperial on foot and the Red Devils lead 32-12. Toulouse stalled and conceded their seventh try of the match. It was again Ken Sio who intercepted a Toulouse pass and crossed the field to bring the score to 38-12.
Toulouse will not return and Salford will manage the last minutes of the game. The Red Devils win their second game of the season as Toulouse are defeated for the second time in as many encounters. For Toulouse, the hardest part starts with two big ones who arrive at Ernest-Wallon, Warrington and Wigan.
The TO bows to Salford.
