Toulouse. Lycée Bellevue: the “I succeed in high school” system acclaimed by students
The rector of the Toulouse academy Mostafa Fourar went to Bellevue high school on Thursday February 17 to meet the students of a second class received, since September 2021, from the “I succeed in high school” device. An “open” device in all establishments, which, in short, allows the student flexibility in his schedule. But also offers reinforced courses in several disciplines, but especially mathematics within the framework of the “Mathematics Plan”. A discipline that is coming back to the forefront of the news against a backdrop of a shortage of teachers.
The Bellevue multipurpose high school welcomes students from the second to the final year in the general way, the teaching of science and technology of management and management and a system of high-level athletes. It is precisely at the edge of the stadium that the rector, accompanied by the headmaster Daniel Peries, came to discuss with the students (mostly girls) in the sport studies rugby section. A second class with his PE teacher, Cyril Balester, who teaches “59 students, including 50 girls, from second to final year, there are very few boys who are in a section that has become mixed this year “. Mostafa Fourar, as a promoter of scientific education, taught students to ogle in front of the Bellevue high school, in the direction of the Toulouse 3 Paul Sabatier university. “A science campus where there are enormous needs in science fields and especially for girls”, recalls the rector.
Among the students, Lucas said he was satisfied to have proven “help between high school students, especially for those who have shortcomings.” And they are not only in the sports section those who have difficulties.
“The “I succeed in high school” system is aimed at all students, even those who are not in difficulty, explains Daniel Peries. Today, we wanted to show the rector the rugby section with students who met, over the past two years, learning in dotted lines. They must combine both studies and sport and this is a device that allows them to be well organized. In particular on the consolidation of learning which has frayed a little, while carrying out rigorous rugby training”. In addition to reinforced courses, the system allows students to work in small groups.
