Football star Vivianne Miedema from Hoogeveen is honored with a statue in the heart of London, where she plays for Arsenal. Does the star football player also deserve a statue in the Netherlands?
Miedema (25) has been given her own pink statue next to Tower Bridge in London. A stunt by sponsor Adidas honoring the Arsenal player for her commitment to gender equality in sport. The launch of a survey assures that London has more states of men (21 percent) and animals (8 percent) than women (4 percent).
Miedema is one of the most successful Dutch football players ever. She is the first player to score more than 50 goals in the FA Women’s Super League. On September 9, 2021, she scored her 100th goal (in just 110 games) for Arsenal.
Last year, the striker of the Orange Lionesses was the first Dutch player to be named the best player in the world by the BBC. Meanwhile, she is in the illegitimate interest of several European top clubs. Her contract with Arsenal is expiring and she is said to have already spoken with PSG and FC Barcelona, among others.
