Philippe Clément, Monaco coach: “There are always things to improve”
“After watching the match against Lorient, what did you miss during this match? Was it just a matter of finishing?
I am not easy. I always see things to improve. I always worked like that during my career, even in periods when my teams were winning a lot. That’s why this game, football, is really interesting. Against Lorient, we were not rewarded for the efforts that the players made. But we didn’t have a single real chance against us. I have been working for a little over three years with Frédéric (De Boever), the goalkeeping coach, and after the game he told me he had never had so little to analyze with our goalkeeper. But we lost 2 points, that’s fair. We have to do even better on many aspects. But we cannot say that the players did not respond present.
Does the fact that Bordeaux have changed coach change your preparation?
No, because I don’t know what he’s going to do. We are always focused on ourselves. Being a coach is like a book. Every day is a new page. I want to build a team that can change during the match, a team that is also always ready for the adaptations proposed by the opponent. We are still in the construction of what each player must do with and without the ball.
“Boadu and Badiashile are not available for this weekend. »
Pavlovic left on loan. Why did you prefer to keep Matsima?
“Pavlo” is left-handed, Yllan too, and he showed great things. After that, it’s a question of details. “Pavlo” also had its qualities. There is not a big difference between Chrislain (Matsim) and “Pavlo” but we have to make choices.
Boadu and Badiashile are back in training…
They are there, yes. Because I like to integrate injured players as quickly as possible. But they can’t do everything right now. They are not available for this weekend.
And Cesc Fabregas, where is he?
He is in the preparation. We will try to play a friendly match for him (in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the player explains that a friendly match will be organized next Wednesday against Brentford’s B team). »
