Wissam Ben Yedder, best Ligue 1 player in January
Already voted Monegasque MVP of the month for January by Club fans on the AS Monaco App, the captain of the Rouge et Blancs had the honor of receiving the UNFP Trophy for player of the month for January.
He took it all in January! Author of six goals in five games with AS Monaco last month, Wissam Ben Yedder was named best player in Ligue 1 over the period, and thus inherited the UNFP Trophy. Already elected MVP by Red and White fans more than two weeks ago, the Monegasque number 10, current top scorer in the championship (14 goals), has thus been rewarded by the general public.

It’s true that I feel good, that I’m on a good dynamic and I want to make it last. It’s always rewarding to be top scorer but I’m not focused on that. I reason more collectively, in order to help my teammates.

Decisive in the cup and in the league
In competition with Nantes’ Ludovic Blas and Amine Gouiri of OGC Nice, captain ‘Wiss thus won his first trophy of the season and succeeds Téji Savanier, decorated in December. Named last season among the five best players in the elite, the French international (16 caps, 2 goals) proved that he was in very good shape at the start of the year. Scorer three times in the Coupe de France (against Quevilly-Rouen then Lens twice) as well as in Ligue 1 (doubled against Clermont and but in Montpellier), the captain of AS Monaco is now to 62 achievements with the Diagonale.
In the Top 10 of Monaco’s top scorers in L1
Which makes him one of the ten best scorers in the history of the Club in the league, and a very serious candidate for the Top 10 in all competitions. Wissam Ben Yedder therefore fully deserves this title of best player in the championship in January, he who has been named best Monegasque for the last three months by the supporters. Kudos to him!
