The Shrove Monday procession is the highlight of the carnival in Cologne. This year it will take place in the RheinEnergie Stadium because of Corona. All information at a glance.

Carnival Cologne 2022: This is how the Rose Monday procession should run

The Rosenmontagszug is the highlight in the Cologne Carnival*. However, due to the tense Corona situation, the traditional carnival parade was canceled in December 2021. A short time later it was said: The Shrove Monday procession can take place – and in normal size. But this year the “Zoch” will not be going through Cologne as usual, but through the RheinEnergie Stadium.

There are 4700 participants this year, including wagons with pastiches and horses. The train will be a good three kilometers long and will move into the stadium in the southwest. It then continues via the west, north and east sides – the Shrove Monday procession WILL then leave the stadium again on the south side. The Zoch will also pass the Cologne triumvirate.
