Monaco and the sea, discover the new Larvotto seaside resort
With a luminous line signed Renzo Piano, its new shaded promenade reconciles urban and Mediterranean landscape, completely renovated public sandy beach and open sea shopping. A pure Monegasque seaside experience to savor all year round.
In the east, a new face of the Principality of Monaco awaits us
If the Larvotto district is one of the most appreciated in Monaco, it is above all because it represents the dimension seaside of the Principality. People come here to swim, stroll by the sea, have lunch or enjoy a cocktail on the terrace. For this large-scale project which transforms this familiar horizon into a real new place to live, the Prince’s Government has called on none other than Renzo Piano, the famous Genoese architect, co-author of the Pompidou Center in Paris, and the landscape architect Michel Desvigne. The result of two years of work: a completely remodeled and modernized coastline, a beach and its surroundings that have become even more attractive and pleasant to live in, housing public spaces, quality restaurants and shops, accessible and lively.
The seaside experience made in Monaco
This new Monaco promenade has been open to the public since the beginning of July 2021 but has been designed so that residents and visitors can enjoy it in all seasons. Ideal for surveying its new spaces in favor of the traditional Passeggiata by the sea, treat yourself to a refreshing bath in the face of the Riviera spray, have a good time with your feet in the water on one of the four redeveloped private beaches – “Marco La Rose des Vents”, “Le Neptune”, “La Note Bleue”, “Le Miami” – or even enjoy an ice cream in the shade of the pines at the Glacier Mullot, a regular here and a gourmet since 1967. Along the lower promenade, there are also around twenty establishments, including restaurants, a diving school, a lifeguard station, not to mention the historic shops that can be found in brand new premises made available by the Government.
Shops open all year round at Larvotto
Lhe ambition behind this new large-scale project is to guarantee this seafront life and entertainment throughout the year, and not just during the summer season. An emblematic strip of beach in the Principality, the district has thus found a new lease of life under the impetus of the Larvotto Complex. We thus rediscover with a new eye historic shops such as “Palais du Maillot” (ready-to-wear & beachwear) or “La Licorne” (swimming suit specialist), but also the Aquatic Rescue and Diving Center de Monaco / Ecole Bleue, new facilities labeled Handiplage, dedicated to people with reduced mobility and with disabilities, a new crèche, not to mention a cycle path.
Soon, residents and visitors will be able to take advantage of a new commercial area since seven additional commercial areas will complete the offer. Without revealing anything at this stage, we can already announce the arrival of four shops complementary to the current commercial offer (decoration, ready-to-wear, aesthetics and bakery-pastry) and three others which will welcome new tables, respectively d Italian, Mediterranean and Mexican inspiration. Finally, in place of the “Larvotto Gym Center”, there will be a brand new sports hall known as “Fit Factory Larvotto”, already known to residents and regulars of the district.
Three quarters of a century after its real creation, the Larvotto district is thus reborn under the Mediterranean sun and invites us to rediscover the pleasures of life with it, to share with family and friends, summer and winter alike.
