International press delegation examines Hungary Mandiner
The board of the International Press Institute (IPI) is meeting in Budapest to draw attention to the “challenges to media freedom in Hungary” ahead of the April elections.
The IPI was delivered to Media1 on Thursday Communication During their visit, the members of the organization will also meet with Zoltán Kovács, Secretary of State for Communications, Péter Márki-Zay, the opposition’s joint prime ministerial candidate and Gergely Karácsony, Mayor of Budapest.
The committee is also expected to meet with independent media editors and experts. Khadija Patel, Chairman of the Board of the International Press Institute, because the Hungarian capital was chosen as the venue for their first semester meeting because
“The ongoing challenges facing independent journalism in Hungary are a matter of worldwide concern. We look forward to meeting with representatives of both the government and the opposition to understand the key challenges facing the independent press and to ask for commitments to positive reforms for the future. ”
The IPI will report on its experience. in addition to outlining the main challenges, recommendations will be made to improve the situation after the 3 April elections.
