FC Bayern: Today Robert Lewandowski stole a goal record from Messi in Salzburg – Bundesliga
He’s snagging another record!
Record man Robert Lewandowski (33) is playing his 50th away game in the Champions League today in Salzburg in the round of 16 first leg (9 p.m. / DAZN and live ticker on BILD.de). The Bayern star is in the starting XI of the record champions and thus easily snatches a new record.
Lewy doesn’t even have to score for that!
It’s about this record: His great world footballer competitor Lionel Messi (34 / PSG) scored 34 goals in his first 50 games on foreign pitches in the European Cup. Lewandowski (49 appearances so far) already has 37 away goals and will secure the record “Most away goals in the first 50 Champions League games” with one appearance today.
He just has to play, not even score a goal…
Lewy had also beaten the Argentine in the Fifa world footballer election in January. But: Messi secured the Ballon d’Or in November – ahead of Lewandowski.
After the brace in the 2-4 debacle in Bochum, Julian Nagelsmann’s (34) team need the goals of the super striker again today against Red Bull (contract until 2023)!
He even has some catching up to do in the Champions League: his strong nine goals in the group phase are currently only enough for second place in the top scorer list. First is Ajax clipper Sébastien Haller (27/formerly Frankfurt), who has scored ten times.
Lewy got the necessary love boost on Monday: on Valentine’s Day he brought his wife Anna (33) an XXL bouquet of red roses. In the evening, the Polish glamor couple fell in love with red wine, candlelight and rose petals on the table.
Incidentally, the Bayern star is already on course for a record again in the Bundesliga!
After 22 matchdays he has 26 goals under his belt, as many as in his 41-goal season in 2020/21. Under he has already scored 16 away goals in the league. He’s just one goal away from the record set by Jupp Heynckes (1973/74) and Timo Werner (2019/20) – with six away games left in the league, that will be a new Lewy record…
