Portugal Ventures launches operation to finance new companies in Madeira
Portugal Venture, a venture capital company of Grupo Português de Fomento, launched, this Monday, an operation aimed at promoting access to innovative risk finance on the island of Madeira. Named “Call Madeira”, the operation has applications open until March 14 and projects can count on up to 200 thousand euros.
“Portugal Ventures aims to promote entrepreneurship in the region, encouraging the creation and development of beginners with global assessment, in sectors of interest to entrepreneurship”, reads the note released for the development of Madeira this Monday.
Thus, investors are able to reinforce the export strength of the Autonomous Region of Madeira and an image of the island for a center also promoted for the “positioning of Portugal as technologically advanced, attractive and attractive to the outside world”.
More precisely, Chamada de Madeira will invest in phased projects in the region that will lead in the phases pre-seed, seed (initial investments) and start and that are innovative in the digital sectors (a cloud, enterprisese-commerce, among others), life science (therapeutics, diagnostics, medical technology), and engineering and industry (economy of the sea, endogenous resources, energy, agro-industrial, forestry industry, nanotechnology and materials).
For this operation, Portugal Ventures partnered with Startup Madeira – which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Rui Ferreira, Portugal Ventures, indicated, quoted in the note, that he is confident that he will strengthen the image of Portugal “as a highly competitive and attractive pole for foreign investment, at the same president who promotes the strengthening of the regional and national economy”.
