Suspect for setting fire to homeless person in Brussels South
The man who set fire to a homeless person who was sleeping in the night from Friday to Saturday. This has been announced by the Brussels public prosecutor. It is unclear if the man is suspected of murder or manslaughter.

The federal railway police placed before a fire and a burned person in the Brussels South metro station around 03:30 am on Saturday. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office was informed and requested the lab of the federal judicial police on site. A law doctor was also appointed.
A suspect was identified not long after the police intervention on Saturday morning. He was interrogated during the day and was placed before the investigating judge on Sunday. In the interest of the investigation, the public prosecutor does not want to make any further additions.
According to Sudinfo, the perpetrator set the fire by putting newspapers on the homeless man and setting them on fire. The victim was badly burned on his back to the burns center of the military hospital of Neder-Over-Heembeek. The 34-year-old perpetrator was not released until Friday from Saint Gilles prison, where he was closed for eight months for a series of thefts, according to the newspaper.
The perpetrator’s lawyer in Sudinfo that his clients wanted to light a fire to warm themselves up. Perpetrator and victim, both of each other met. The suspect would have decided to spend the night in Brussels-South station. According to the lawyer, the man had not fled, but had to put out the fire.
