Bayern against Salzburg not a favorite
Munich – After Red Bull Salzburg survived the group stage of the Champions League in the club’s history, the Mozart city-dwellers meet FC Bayern Munich in the round of 16.
Ironically, ex-Bayern talent Karim Adeyemi sends a challenge to his favorite club before the first leg on Wednesday evening in Salzburg (February 16, from 9 p.m. in the live ticker). When asked whether Munich was the favorite in this knockout duel, the German international said confidently on “Sky”: “Not in our eyes.”
Adeyemi: “We play to win”
The 20-year-old expects his Salzburg team to have possible chances against Munich.
“We play to win. We don’t play to play a draw. Of course we want to win the first game there,” said Adeyemi, who is rumored to be moving to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022 and should already be in agreement with the Bundesliga club.
“Bayern are a top team, but all cards are open,” said Adeyemi before the first duel with the German record champions.
Adeyemi, who was born in Munich, has already scored 18 competitive goals for Salzburg this season, three of them in the Champions League group stage.
