Two more days to support the fight against childhood cancer and win an AS Monaco jersey
Nearly 5,000 euros have already been made since the start of the auction on February 6.
There is still time to participate! Until this Saturday, February 12, thirteen AS Monaco jerseys are sold at auction, for the benefit of the Flavian Foundation and Monaco Scientific Center (CSM). The opportunity to support research against pediatric cancer, which affects 2,500 children and adolescents per year in France.
” Dad, do it for others “. When little Flavien, eight years old, flew in 2014, following brain cancer, his father, Denis Maccario, swore to himself to respect this promise. Several operations have been expected in the Principality, to raise funds intended to advance research, but also to support sick children and their families.
More than 5,000 euros defined
An auction of exceptional wines had also organized summer in 2018 and raised 41,500 euros. A sum that made it possible to buy an electric staircase for a child suffering from bone cancer, who has unfortunately since died. Here again, the Foundation supported the parents in financing the funeral.
” We don’t just fund research : we support families, explains Denis Maccario. Of the 2,500 cases of childhood cancer each year, unfortunately, 500 do not survive it. The death market is a real market and the cost of funerals is very high. The Foundation not only provides support during the illness, but also afterwards, when taking off… »
As part of the sale of the jerseys, 80% of the sum will be reversed to research. The remaining 20% will be used to support families, if needed. So far, more than 5,000 euros have already been raised. Denis Maccario hopes that sales will take off in the last hours: “ I don’t know how many euros are going to be indicated, but at least it will always be more than zero! »
AS Monaco, a club committed to the fight against disease
An operation initiated by Jean-Edouard Dangréaux, director of institutional relations for AS Monaco, which Denis Maccario wanted to justify, as well as the participating players.
At the same time, the Monegasque club also put the Flavien Foundation and the CSM in the spotlight, by inviting researchers and families to attend the match against Lyon last Saturday. Two children from the Foundation, Enzo and Quentin and his little sister, were even able to follow the warm-up and the meeting from behind the scenes, as part of the “My Wish” experience. The children also met coach Philippe Clément and exchanged with Wissam Ben Yedder.
On the sidelines of the game, Vice-President and General Manager Oleg Petrov and Ekaterina Sartori Rybolovleva, member of the Board of Directors, presented two red and white jerseys: one to the Flavian Foundation, the other to the CSM. A symbolic gesture, which testifies to the club’s support for these two entities.
Professors Patrick Rampal and Denis Allemand, respectively President and Director of the CSM, and Denis Maccario, accompanied by Enzo and Quentin, were invited to the field for this exceptional presentation.
Families and volunteers from Côte d’Azur associations working with sick children will also be invited this Sunday, February 13, at 1 p.m., on the occasion of the reception of FC Lorient at the Stade Louis-II. Meeting which will take place two days before World Childhood Cancer Day, on February 15.
Actions expected within the framework of the AS Monacœur solidarity program, thanks to which the club has supported many causes, such as collecting toys for the benefit of Friends of Lebanon, or other jersey auctions, in support of football clubs fans or the operation against breast cancer, Pink Ribbon.
