The Norwegian airline Flyr is establishing itself in Sweden with a new direct route to Oslo from Stockholm Arlanda
The Norwegian newly started low-cost company Flyr is expanding its network of routes to Sweden and will launch a new non-stop service to Oslo from Stockholm. Starting in early April, the route will initially have four weekly departures from Stockholm Arlanda.
Flyr is a new Norwegian low-cost company with a focus on serving the Norwegian market with domestic and international flights from its base at Oslo Gardermoen Airport. The airline started operations in mid-2021 and is now launching its first route to Sweden.
As of April 7, Flyr will operate the Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) – Oslo Airport (OSL) route four times a week and intends to extend this to seven weekly departures during the summer season. They will operate a Boeing 737-8, a new generation of aircraft that emits up to 14 percent less emissions than previous models.
“It is good news that Flyr is investing in the Swedish market and is now launching a route from Oslo to Stockholm. Oslo is an important market for both business travelers and tourists. There is a lot of trade between the two countries and Norway is one of the largest markets when it comes to tourists who come to the Stockholm region. Now with restrictions being lifted and demand rising sharply, it bodes well for increased travel between Sweden and Norway and the expanded range of travel opportunities will be a positive addition.“says Elizabeth AxteliusDirector of Aviation Business at Swedavia.
There is a lot of exchange between Sweden and Norway, which is one of Sweden’s largest trading partners. Norway is also one of the Stockholm region’s leading markets for international visitors. Over 40 percent of the current passengers who fly between Stockholm and Oslo are Swedes whose main reason for traveling is business. Norwegian travelers make up almost half of the other passengers and usually travel as tourists in the Stockholm region.
There is a demand for fast connections between the two capitals, and the new route will be an addition to the existing supply. In addition to Flyr, three operators currently serve the route to Oslo from Arlanda.
