A hydrogen bus is available
Hungary’s first hydrogen-powered bus departed from Népliget, and in two days anyone can board it. Between February 11 and March 6, the test period will run for three weeks. Between Vecsés and Kőbánya-Kispest it will be possible to test the new vehicle free of charge.
The hydrogen-powered bus can carry almost 90 passengers and is 12 meters long. The bus has a 70 kW fuel cell into which hydrogen gas is delivered. It can cover 350-400 km on a single charge.
The chairman and CEO of Volánbusz Zrt. Told M1: the advantage of the bus is that it can travel extremely quietly, it has no voice. But more importantly, that
nothing released a product.
“Such a bus can carry 89 people at a time, and if we look at how these 89 people could travel at the same time with 89 cars at a time, it in itself has an extremely significant environmental impact, a positive environmental impact on the world and into the air ” – said Zoltán Pafféri.
The government adopted the Hungarian hydrogen strategy last May, one of the main areas being transport
– This was what the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Policy said. Atilla Steiner added: the new technological step towards climate neutrality.
“It’s very important that the traveling public also learns about this new technology. Let’s not be averse to technology, here it is
we have a very positive experience with the green bus program. There was also an initial aversion on the part of the population, but it is very easy to turn this into a positive experience when you can actually try such a bus. ”
Said Attila Steiner.
The Secretary of State also mentioned that transport accounts for one-fifth of domestic CO2 emissions; In order for Hungary to achieve the undertaken climate neutrality by 2050, significant changes are needed in this area as well. That is why this development is important.
