Humiliation and the mask of the masochist!
We continue to explore emotional wounds every Friday with Lynda Break. As a reminder, these wounds are born during childhood. To avoid the risk of reactivating them, we then invent defense strategies. This is why a wound = a mask. This mask is ultimately the product of our ego and its defense mechanisms.
Today heading for the injury of humiliation with Lynda Pause, personal development coach.
The birth of the wound of humiliation
It is printed between 1 and 3 years, often in connection with the parent who represses the pleasure or who tends to belittle.
A child may feel humiliated by a parent or belittled by a teacher. By dint of repetitions, he ends up convincing himself that he is unworthy. The child then feels permanently lowered and humiliated. So, consciously or not, he begins to organize his life through this prism.
Each wound provokes the fabrication of a social mask. In this case, it is the mask of the masochist linked to a drive for self-destruction.
What are the signs of an injury from humiliation?
They can be variable and more or less strong depending on the severity of the injury. We generally find a poor self-image and a lack of self-confidence. The person has the impression of being rejected or set aside all the time. Shyness and excessive withdrawal are also signs. Just like the embarrassment when it is necessary to speak or express oneself in public. Note also extreme vigilance, even aggressiveness.
How to heal this wound?
It is important to work on yourself, in particular to recognize your value. For example, you can list your personal achievements to boost yourself. Moreover, it is good to confront your fears, step by step. Why not take on small challenges to regain confidence and regain your power!
Put your fears into perspective too, since in the wound of humiliation there is a form of anticipation. We fear being judged even before we have done something. It is important to avoid erroneous projections. The situations, the environment, the people in front of us are never the same! So the scenario can always evaluate and above all in a good way 🙂
