Toulouse. The “Concours de Courts” festival is looking for new talents
From December 8 to February 28, the 19th edition of the International Short Film Festival Concours de Courts is launching its call for applications. Amateurs or professionals, filmmakers from all over the world have the opportunity to highlight short films, a format unknown to the general public.
After the selection phase, several public screenings will be organized at
Toulouse. A great ceremony will then close this edition with the awarding of 6 prizes. A jury made up of film professionals awards 4 awards each year.
In the past, big names in French cinema have taken part in the festival, such as Claire Nebout, Zinedine Soualem and Jean Benguigui. The public also acts as a jury by voting for the short film winning the Public’s Favorite Award. Each year, the fact that this event is free in person or remotely attracts a large audience and thus democratizes access to short films.
During the 18th edition, more than 1,000 short films (representing more than 52 nationalities) responded to the call for applications. Due to the health crisis, the selected works were broadcast on Twitch and YouTube with an audience of 600 viewers for this totally digital edition.
How to participate?
The festival team, made up of 8 Master’s students in AGCOM (Communication Administration and Management) at the University of Toulouse 1 Capitole, is in charge of organizing this major event. Initiated by Serge Regourd, President of the Culture, Communication and Heritage Commission of the Occitanie region, this cultural festival continues to increase its notoriety over the editions.
To compete, artists must submit short films with a maximum duration of
15 minutes (title and credits included), produced after December 31, 2019. All themes and genres are accepted as soon as they are aimed at the general public. In addition, foreign films must be subtitled.
