In Toulouse, a festival honors cinematographic UFOs
“The Art of Growing Wild Herbs for the Most Extravagant of Gardens”. This is the definition of the “Extreme Cinema” festival according to the Cinematheque of Toulouse. The event resumes its quarters this year, from February 18 to 26. In the program : “cult or completely forgotten filmsfilm-concerts, concerts, exhibitions, non-stop nights, performances, but still and always the floor to the guests“.
Eclecticism and bad taste
Always rooted in “this desire to rekindle the flames of margin cinema“, “Extreme Cinema” will offer movies of all kinds. “Cinéma bis, exploitation films, deviant blockbusters, an infernal sarabande exhilarating and bawdy, naughty and teasing…”, lists the Toulouse cinematheque.
Participating in the festival is a bit like watching unidentified filmed objects take off. The cinematheque evokes “an invitation to travel on could not be more incorrect within a festival which practices, since its first edition, eclecticism, difference and assumed bad taste“.
Details of the films shown
During the opening night, next February 18 at 9 p.m., the film “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” will for example be projected. Four different experiences will be offered the following day, including the screening of the film “Hellraiser: The Pact” in the presence of the writer Cédric Sire to 19h.
No less than eight different activities will then be offered on Sunday 20 February. Toulouse residents will notably find a session for the film “The Night Warriors”presented by the author Laurent Hellebé, at 14h. Also to be viewed in the rest of the festivities: “Junk Head” (preview), “Black Sunday”, “The thrill of the vampires”, “Red lips”…
