The Hungarian indicator thus ranks first in the Central European region, exceeding the average of 19%. Employment in the IT sector is growing exponentially, but the demand for skilled professionals is extremely strong.
The digital economy accounts for one-fifth of domestic economic growth and employment. According to the Graduate Career Tracking System, those with an IT degree always earn a gross income, most of whom work in graduate positions.
Sándor Bodó, Secretary of State for Employment Policy, said in a statement: “While less than 100,000 people worked in the information and communication (ICT) sector in 2010, we reached a peak of more than 170,000 by the end of 2021. The number of jobs is growing at the fastest pace.
Balázs Károly Solymár, Undersecretary of State for Digitization, added: “The government is recommending the profession to those looking for a career with the Program Against the Future initiative. Within the framework of the project, Hungary’s first IT tour bus and mobile IT education laboratory can visit 60-80 schools in the first half of 2022. Another program element supports the organization of IT courses in the first phase, from January to May this year in ten rural educational institutions.
