3rd metro line in Toulouse: the plea of Karine Traval-Michelet
At a time when the Toulouse municipal opposition, including the elected socialist, is putting the 3rd metro line back in the hot seat, the vice-president of the Metropolis where she leads the socialist group and the mayor of Colomiers, Karine Traval- Michelet , reiterates its unreserved support for this project.
At a time when the third line of the Toulouse metro, on the occasion of the environmental public inquiry, is coming under new criticism from the opposition Archipelago but also the reservations of the Toulouse socialist elected representative, Vincent Gibert, and of the president of the departmental council Georges Méric, Karine Traval-Michelet, mayor of Colomiers and president of the socialist group in the Metropolis, expressed all her support for this flagship project of Tisséo, as she had done before her municipal council this week.
She recalled that the 3rd line, since 2014, had been the subject of “wide consultation” and that “the debate (of its necessity) had been settled”.
“I trust all the experts who have looked into the matter and who have used the correct benchmarks,” she said in response to attacks by the association Makers of the city, which contests Tisséo’s figures and judges that the balance sheet carbon is not there. For her, this challenge “brings confusion” on a “technical” subject, which amounts to “being against the line”.
“The Metropolis needs this metro line. It is time to commit to this line. It will have many benefits.” Incidentally, Karine Traval-Michel also justified the choice of the metro, “a transport capacity”, contested by the opposition in favor of the surface network: bus, tram, RER.
The socialist group, with the exception of Vincent Gibert, voted in favor of the environmental file of the 3rd line.
