Versailles joins Monaco in the semi-finals
Wednesday, February 9, 2022 – 9:00 p.m. – RR
FC Versailles 78 won their qualification for the last four by winning in Périgueux against Bergerac on penalties (1-1, 5-4).
After Calais RUFC (2000), FC Montceau-Bourgogne (2007), US Quevilly (2010) and GFA Rumilly Vallières, FC Versailles became, this Wednesday evening, the fifth club of the fourth national level to reach the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. With the formation of Ile-de-France and AS Monaco, winner of Amiens on Tuesday evening, the last four of this 105th edition already promises to be royal, pending the outcome of the last two quarters of final.
In Périgueux, in front of a public largely won over to the cause of the Bergeracois, the Yvelinois suffered until the end to win their qualification. Yet they had managed an almost perfect introduction. Ideally served on the left by Kapokyeng Sylva, Inza Diarrassouba, with a nice curling shot from the right, opened the scoring (0-1, 14th). Pierre Laborde-Turon then saw the strike from Kapitbafan Djoco, who had presented himself alone against him, made flush with his amount (31st). Six minutes later, the Bergerac goalkeeper intervened against Diego Michel.
Unhappy Mingoua
Versailles seemed able to hold their lead until the 79th minute: Christopher Ibayi received a second warning and left his team to finish at ten. At the last minute of regulation time, Axel Tressens, offset by Christian Gyeboaho in the penalty area, equalized with a cross shot from the left foot (1-1, 90th).
The two teams were going to decide on penalties. The shooters achieved a faultless performance for a long time. At 3-3, Kévin Mingoua’s attempt hits the post while Dan Delaunay, the Versailles goalkeeper, was caught on the wrong foot. Nothing will be missed and Waly Diouf, the defender of Versailles, sent his team to the semi-finals.
