Toulouse launches a municipal mutual fund for low-income seniors
It had been promised during the municipal campaign of 2020: the municipal mutual fund arrives in Toulouse. It aims to facilitate access to care for people over 60 and the less well-off.
If you are over 60, you could claim the Toulouse communal mutual insurance fund. An agreement was signed on January 17 between the Town Hall of Toulouse and the mutual Just.
This new offer offers advantageous services for seniors. “This is aimed at around 20% of the Toulouse population over 60, who see their income reduced by 25 to 50% when they retire“, had explained, in December, Patricia Bez, deputy mayor in charge of Health.
The city of Toulouse details the eligibility conditions on its website. A knowledge that this offer is reserved for the inhabitants of Toulouse, aged over 60 and earning less than 1,800 € net per month. feel free to test your eligibility here.
“With age, health problems and related costs increase, while incomes decrease. Subscribing to a municipal mutual fund is therefore an interesting choice.“, specifies the brochure of the mutual.
The mutual thus covers routine care (optical, hearing, hospitalization, dental) and prevention. It also offers to reimburse sports licenses up to 40 € per year, arguing that physical exercise helps preserve its health capital.
For 60-70 year olds, the cost is €43.76/month. It goes to €49.77 for 70-75 year olds and €53.96 for those over 75, a rate that remains below the rates currently charged by conventional complementary health insurance.
“Toulouse residents could find out about and join this mutual insurance company through the hotlines that we organise. This is a plus for the purchasing power of seniors“, rejoiced Jean-Luc Moudenc on Twitter.
The municipal mutual should indeed be made available from the end of 2021, but the 5th wave of Covid-19 has been transposed its implementation. The conditions are now in place to organize these meetings with the public concerned. The first of these hotlines took place today at 4 p.m.
