Crossroads on Moskovsky Prospekt in Kaliningrad, where a 28-year-old woman died on February 3, 2022, safe for traffic participants. Except for one moment.
Timur Zigangirov, Deputy Head of the Supervision Department of the regional traffic police, on the air of Komsomolskaya Pravda-Kaliningrad radio on Tuesday, February 8, said that the traffic light should still be equipped with flashing white-moon information light sections. This is expected to be in effect in 2020. In Kaliningrad, it is necessary to install over 700 such sections, so far – not a single one.
According to Zigangirov, in the Kaliningrad administration all traffic lights are mandatory in 2022, where necessary, similar to the new Gosstandart standard.
Regarding the causes of the accident with the deceased woman, the representative of the traffic police said that “this is absolutely the fault of the driver of the vehicle, who violated the rules for driving a pedestrian crossing.” A Kaliningrad woman walked with her little son to a green traffic light.
The driver says he didn’t notice. In his explanations, he says that he missed one pedestrian, saw him. And he did not see a woman with a child. They seem to have fallen into invisibility, because the cabin is high. Therefore, increased requirements are imposed on truck drivers,” said Timur Zigangirov.
The Russian West reported that the woman who had been hit by the sand truck died at the scene. The one and a half year old son of the Kaliningrad woman did not return. The boy took care of the woman while his dad is on a foreign flight.
