It is a “rare” Mozart that we offerToulouse Chamber Orchestra with these works of the Austrian genius transcribed for strings. We discover the skilful transcription for chamber orchestra by the Venetian composer Cimador of the famous 40th Symphony where the part for strings requires great virtuosity.
The reduction of the workforce accentuates the tragic side of a score corresponding to the period of anxious fertility of Mozart. The overtures of his two most famous operas (“The Marriage of Figaro” and “The Magic Flute”) also in their version for strings will complete this program.
Less known today than his older brother Joseph, Michael Haydn was nevertheless considered by his contemporaries to be an artist of the very first rank. We owe him moreover more than eight hundred compositions (mainly religious) including forty symphonies and this Divertimento in D major performed during this program.
Under the direction of Gilles Colliard, since 2004, the Chamber Orchestra of Toulouse has chosen to go to the end of its approach of authenticity by offering baroque concerts on old instruments, but also modern concerts with current instruments… Venues concerts, churches, cultural centres, schools, universities, and sometimes even factories, the Orchester de Chambre de Toulouse offers the public more than 140 thematic concerts each year.
