Berlin (dpa / bb) – More than two years after the death of a driver from a fallen tree, a Berlin district forester comes to court. In order to get an impression of the situation, the district court is hearing in the open air at the scene of the accident today. The prosecution accuses the forester of negligent homicide. The 42-year-old is said to have not carried out the check on Königsallee in Grunewald with the conscientious care in February 2019 and thus misjudged the risk of a tree falling over. On October 28, 2019, the approximately 100-year-old Norway maple fell on the woman’s car.
According to the court, the public prosecutor assumes that the accident could have been avoided. According to armed police, the 40-year-old woman suffered severe head injuries on the evening of the accident when the tree fell on the car. They later died in a hospital. Her husband, who was also in the car, suffered minor injuries.
