Concealed work, customers without a pass, smuggling, trafficking in nitrous oxide… near Toulouse, a closed shisha bar
A restaurant transformed into a shisha bar, located in Fonbeauzard, north of Toulouse, was checked by the authorities this Saturday. And the police went from surprise to surprise…
Residents of the neighborhood have been complaining about it for months. In this Fonbeauzard restaurant, transformed into a shisha bar, nighttime gatherings are frequent and above all noisy. Enough to keep the neighborhood awake several nights a month. And inside this establishment, some of the customers and employees walk around without a mask or a valid health pass.
Already in the sights of the gendarmes of the Toulouse Saint-Michel company, who have visited it many times since November, a restaurant in the north of the Haute-Garonne department was checked this weekend. It was on the night of Saturday to Sunday that the operational committee for the fight against fraud (CODAF), co-chaired by the prosecutor and the prefect, went by surprise to this place so decried by local residents.
contraband tobacco
Supported by customs, the gendarmes and a canine brigade, the Codaf teams did not make the trip for nothing. They discovered that two of the employees were not declared. The authorities then went from surprise to surprise since the tobacco sold had not been purchased in a legal manner. And the managers also hid nitrous oxide, this fashionable laughing gas. While deepening their search, the investigators also discovered two machetes, two tear gas canisters and a truncheon.
The owner of this establishment risks an administrative closure. In the meantime, the Toulouse prosecutor’s office announces the prosecution of a judicial investigation for violation of labor law and illegal sale of tobacco.
