The strange transfer that would have allowed Éric Dupond-Moretti to buy a Maserati in Monaco
A mysterious case? According to several documents obtained Mediapart, Justice Minister Éric Dupond-Moretti reportedly bought himself a Maserati with money from an offshore company based in the Seychelles. While he was not yet Keeper of the Seals, the lawyer would have received 100,000 euros in fees from the Exelyum company for which he has never been counsel. A sum which he would use to buy a Maserati convertible, partly in cash, in Monaco. Contacted by Mediapart, the minister’s office refutes any breach.
The boss of the company Exelyum, Jean-Pierre Nitkowski, was suspected of being at the head of a vast international scam à la Bernard Madoff, estimated at 20 million euros, for which the company would have served as a black box . It is within the framework of this investigation that Marc-Emmanuel Gounot, Lyonnais investigating judge, would have discovered this transfer to the account of Éric Dupond-Moretti. Five days after the payment of 100,000 euros, on March 5, 2013, the current Keeper of the Seals would have transferred 75,000 euros to a garage in Monaco. Cost of purchasing this black Maserati Grancabrio: 95,158 euros. The 20,158 euros difference would have been paid in cash by the lawyer, according to the documents consulted by Mediapart.
Regarding the amount that Éric Dupond-Moretti would have received, the investigation would have shown that Jean-Pierre Nitkowski would have provided advice from a certain Immanuel de Agrella, with whom he was in detention in Monaco, in December 2012. This co-detainee was then defended by the Minister of Justice. In exchange for stock market tips, the boss of Exelyum would have paid his cellmate’s lawyer fees. Information confirmed by the office of the Keeper of the Seals: “Éric Dupond-Moretti defended the interests of Mr. Immanuel di Agrella, which was the subject of invoicing and the collection of fees.”
As for the case concerning the company Exelyum, it “was investigated by an examining magistrate, specialized in financial matters, who had all the elements and carried out investigations without deeming it necessary to hear Éric Dupond- Moretti,” continued the minister’s office. The Maserati in question has for its part since been resold “legally” by the Keeper of the Seals, assures those around him, to justify that it does not appear in the declaration of assets of the resident of Place Vendôme.
