Rodrigo Lourenço, winner of the contest “The Voice Portugal”
The television talent contest “The Voice Portugal” had its final this Sunday. It was won by competitor Rodrigo Lourenço, 17 years old.
The grand finale of the RTP contest featured five finalists: Edmundo Inácio, Mariana Rocha, Rodrigo Lourenço, João Leote and Daniel Fernandes. The first ones were discovered by Mariana Rocha (5th (4th) and Edmundo Inácio).
Close to the big decisions, Daniel Fernandes (3rd) was left behind, competing for the Rodrigo Lourenço trophy, from António Zambujo’s team, and João Leote, from Marisa Liz’s team.
The final duel was played between Rodrigo Lourenço, from mentor António Zambujo, and João Leote (2nd), from Marisa Liz’s team, with the former winning with 70% of the votes.
Rodrigo Lourenço, 17, is the youngest of the five competitors. He learned to play the guitar at age 6, studied singing at the Castelo Branco Conservatory and fell in love with fado. He qualified for the final of “The Voice Portugal” after interpreting themes by Amália Rodrigues, Queen and Adelaide Ferreira. At the final gala he played ‘Louca’, by Gisela João, in a duet with the fado singer from Barcelos.
