Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series 2022 – Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio (G-Spot) sets the paceAdonnante.com
The 9th Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series circuit continues. About fifty international crews were once again on deck for this third and penultimate meeting of the season which marked the start of the Tenzor International Cup, an international regatta circuit. Everyone had their sights set on preparing for the next J/70 World Championship which will be organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco in collaboration with FxPro from October 14 to 22, 2022.
Briton Paul Goodison, gold medalist at the Beijing Olympics in ILCA 7, seven-time world champion in 5 different series and entered in the America’s Cup aboard Artemis Racing in 2017, sailed alongside the Swedes of Interlude with which he finished 4th. Xavier Rohart, Olympic medalist in Star, was also present on the water to coach the young sailors of the southern league while the Finnish Staffan Lindberg, size of match racing or the brilliant Finnist Ed Wright, had chosen to take part in the meeting yourself as runners.
“For this season, we are going to focus on the J/70 support and the world championship” confided last December Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio (GSpot) during the YCM Awards – Credit Suisse Trophy during which he was crowned sailor of the year. A premonitory statement as evidenced by his victory in this 3rd act. The YCM sailor ended the race the same way he started: at the very top of the table. With a run of 2 on the clock from the first day, the member of the YCM had taken the height on this event which he knows well. It should be noted that the Monegasque crews are working hard to shine on this circuit which serves them in particular as qualifying events for the world championship. For the moment, Nikitina Milena (Tenzor Sport) has won the provisional general classification after three acts and 15 races run. She is followed by Ludovico Fassitelli (Junda) and Loïc Pompey (Sailing Racing Team), both from YCM
With in particular Tenzor Sport led by Nikitina Milena and Tenzor Legal by Andrei Pushkin as ambassadors, the crews from the East played the spoilsports in the event. Conceding the first places at the start of the regatta, they returned to the charge this Sunday. Taking advantage of the flow of 10-15 knots in a southerly, southwesterly sector, they regained the upper hand over part of the fleet. Tenzor Sport thus ranks 2nd in the general classification of this act followed by the British of Brutus II. In the Tenzor International Cup standings, Nikitina Milena is leading the dance for the moment, which will end here in Monaco during the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series (November 3 to 6, 2022).
The international fleet of J/70s will return to the Principality for the 38th Primo Cup-Trophée Credit Suisse (March 3-6, 2022), which will also be the fourth and final act of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series circuit. Launched in 1985 at the instigation of HSH Prince Albert II, President of the YCM, this regatta equipped with technical clothing from the equipment manufacturer Slam is considered to be the largest European winter gathering of one-design boats in the Mediterranean. A hundred crews, more than 400 sailors, divided into J/70, Smeralda 888, Longtze Premier or RS 21 are expected.
