3rd metro line in Toulouse: pressure from Georges Méric
While an extraordinary municipal council is being held this Tuesday on the 3rd metro line project in Toulouse, the president of the departmental council of Haute-Garonne, Georges Méric, has just sent a letter to the president of Tisséo to inform him of his worry.
An extraordinary municipal council is being held this Tuesday morning at the Capitole to rule on the environmental authorization file for the 3rd metro line and Airport Express line projects. The next day, Wednesday, Tisséo sets up its partners committee, which brings together the local authorities associated with the project.
It is in this context that the Department, which is to contribute 102 million euros to the financing of the third metro line, seems to be concerned about the delay in the project. The president of the departmental council of Haute-Garonne, Georges Méric, has just questioned the president of Tisséo-Collectivités, Jean-Michel Lattes on the subject. And the least we can say is that he met the pressure.
“Despite the recent announcement of a report on the prospects for commissioning at the end of 2028, and no longer at the date brought forward to 2025 until a short time ago, questions remain as to the capacity to meet this new objective” writes Georges Méric. The president of the county council requests “a presentation of the precise schedule of implementation” and “the provisions implemented” to respect it.
“Planning slippages”
“These slippages in the schedule also lead us to question ourselves on controlling the costs of the project” adds Georges Méric who wants guarantees on “the closure of the financing plan”. For the socialist president of the Department, it is necessary “that the stabilized cost of the project be clearly presented as well as its updated financing plan”.
Finally, Georges Méric demands that the impact of the construction on the environment be clarified: “The carbon footprint of this project and therefore its environmental benefit therefore remains to be assessed more precisely”.
