Stricter penalties for offenses with elements of violence
Law 4855/2021, which concerned the amendment of the Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure, tightened the penalties provided for offenses with elements of violence.
Homicide (Article 299 of the Penal Code) – The only sentence for the crime of homicide from the proposal is life imprisonment. The Penal Code of July 2019 was punishable by a sentence of either life imprisonment or temporary imprisonment of at least ten years (ie from 10 to 15 years).

Crimes against the physical integrity of an employee (article 315A of the Penal Code) – Article 68 of Law 4855/2021 added a new criminal provision to the chapter of the Penal Code for crimes against physical integrity, which now explicitly provides that the commission of any form of corporal damage to an employee during the performance of the work or in the context of his work constitutes an aggravating circumstance. In other words, such a criminal act is counted aggravatingly on the punishment that will eventually be imposed on the perpetrator.
Conditional release – The formal and substantive conditions for conditional release of those convicted of crimes including murder, deadly robbery and extortion have been tightened. Thus, in case of imposition of temporary imprisonment for these offenses, the possibility for conditional dismissal is given only if 4/5 of the sentence has been assessed with a beneficial calculation instead of the 3/5 that was valid until November 2021.
A real stay in a penitentiary is required, equal to 3/5 of the sentence against the 2/5 that was valid until the last change of P.K. In the case of life imprisonment for the offenses of murder and deadly robbery, the minimum actual sentence is 18 years. Until this change the minimum real estate estimate was 16 years.
Legislative interventions to address fan violence
With Law 4639/2019, in November 2019:
