Toulouse: Pète Titi collects €210 for the Yellow Pieces
On Saturday, Father Titi made his last collection at Place du Capitole for the benefit of the Yellow Pieces. A place less generous than the others…
Two hundred and ten euros. This is the amount paid by Father Titi, a volunteer for the Yellow Pieces, an association which contributes to the improvement of hospitalization conditions for children and adolescents. An association founded in 1989 by the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris-Hôpitaux de France, renamed Fondation des Hôpitaux. An unexpected sum which, given Monday to the Post Office, will then be sent to the association now returned by Brigitte Macron. “I started three weeks ago, explains Father Titi, so called because of his canary disguise. On a whim and from the heart after reading an article on the subject in the Dépêche du Midi”.
“I was also surprised by the generosity of the public. Including young people. In this period so individualistic”
For three Saturdays, this voluntary withdrawal appealed to the generosity of passers-by, to collect a few yellow coins: “Always in a busier place, he explains. I thus made Wilson, Saint-Georges and Capitole a little less generous than the other two. I was also surprised by the generosity of the public. In this very individualistic time, it is a good surprise”. Perhaps his unexpected outfit worked in his favor, “he’s fun in this costume, exclaims a passerby. He is smiling, kind. And then the cause is beautiful. It’s hard not to be touched.” For the total transparency of this collection, Father Titi always places himself near a café whose owner he knows well, with whom, at the end of the day, he scrupulously counts the collection: “I would thus like to call the Byblos and the Florida which supported me as well as a hairdresser from the Saint-Georges shopping center”, revealed themselves, with other ideas in mind that are still united.
