Toulouse. A digital museum at Les Izards in the fall of 2022
A digital museum, with screens, tablets and augmented reality vision headsets, will be deployed in the Izards district of Toulouse in the fall of 2022. It will allow visitors to see works from the Pompidou Center, the Palace of Versailles, or again from the City of Music-Philharmonie.
The Izards district, in the north of Toulouse, will host a digital museum of the Micro-folie device from autumn 2022. In this new kind of museum, visitors could “thanks to a high-definition screen, digital tablets and augmented reality vision helmets, discover the works of prestigious museums”, as explained by the municipality of the Pink City in a press release. The Pompidou Center, the Palace of Versailles, or the Cité de la Musique-Philharmonie de Paris are some of the establishments whose works could be seen in this digital museum.
“In Toulouse, it is at the cultural center of the Renan district that this new Micro-folie will open in the fall of 2022”, announces the town hall. This museum has “as objectives to reveal curiosity, to break down barriers and to give everyone the opportunity to discover art”.
A museum to bring “art as close as possible to audiences who are far from it” in Toulouse
The Micro-folie system launched by the Ministry of Culture and La Villette in 2017 has already been deployed in around a hundred places throughout France. It is aimed “at all those who do not have, for various reasons, easy access to artistic and cultural initiation or are simply not used to it yet”, indicates the mayor. It brings “art as close as possible to audiences who are far from it”. The digital museum will thus be open to everyone, for free visits or in the company of a cultural mediator.
The town hall of Toulouse does not advance a figure, but according to the Ministry of Culturethe cost of this digital museum is at least “about 40,000 euros, and can be assessed according to the desired modules”.
