At the end of the 19th day of Betclic Elite, the three leaders were able to win. Boulogne-Levallois dominated Le Mans when Monaco got the better of Gravelines-Dunkerque and ASVEL beat Strasbourg.
Boulogne-Levallois has regained its cruising speed. After a moment of turbulence at the beginning of January with two consecutive defeats, Vincent Collet’s players took advantage of the reception at Le Mans to line up a third victory in a row. From the start of the match, Keith Hornsby’s teammates (22 points) took control to score until they grabbed a point lead in the first quarter. The Manceaux tried to resist before returning to their locker room but the gap did not drop below the ten point mark, stabilizing at 17 lengths at the break. The efforts of MSB, won by TaShawn Thomas (17 points, 10 rebounds) were paid back on the floor with a return to nine units during the third quarter. It was then that the Metropolitans tightened the game to control the last ten minutes and win by thirteen points (82-69), their fifteenth in 18 games. Le Mans, after two victories in a row, sees Pau-Lacq-Orthez come back up to par.
Monaco was able to recover
Beaten in overtime by Boulogne-Levallois last weekend, Monaco resumed their march forward when receiving Gravelines-Dunkirk. Heckled at the start of the match, the “Roca Team” managed not to crack to conclude the first quarter with a three-point lead over the BCM. Donta Hall (18 points) and his teammates then put on a big boost from the start of the second quarter with an 8-0 to exceed the ten-point lead for the first time in the match. However, the Maritimes immediately reacted with a 14-2 to regain control and lead by a length at the break. Stung to the quick, the Monegasques returned to the floor with other intentions and a 10-0 materialized that. From there, the Principality club kept the BCM above ten points behind. Abdoulaye Ndoye (15 points, 9 assists) suffered successive waves to find himself 20 points behind Monaco in the last quarter. ASM wins by twelve units (97-85) and remains in second place in the standings. Gravelines-Dunkerque, beaten for the second time in a row, lost ground in the Top 8.
ASVEL continues its series
But Monaco is not alone in twelve wins for six defeats. ASVEL, on the occasion of the reception of Strasbourg, signed a fifth success in a row in the league to forget its setbacks conceded in the Euroleague. The SIG however failed hard with a 7-0 which was immediately erased by the Rhone club. The players of TJ Parker and Frédéric Fauthoux then kept the advantage until the end of the first quarter. Chris Jones (28 points) and his teammates kept the Alsatians under pressure, who saw the gap swell in the ten minutes leading up to halftime. But, led by sixteen points, the players of Lassi Tuovi reacted to come back to ten lengths at the break. A gap that played yo-yo throughout the third quarter, oscillating between five and eleven points according to the series created by each of the two teams. Kameron Taylor (18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) and the SIG were able to get closer to two points at the very end of the match but, in the free throw game, it was ASVEL who had the last word (86 -81) to stay in touch with Monaco. Strasbourg, beaten for the third time in a row, confirms its current difficulties.
