Monaco wins against Gravelines and stays second in Betclic Élite
After two successful trips to the Euroleague, on the floor of Panathinaikos then Red Star Belgrade, Monaco won their third victory of the week by dominating Gravelines on Sunday afternoon (97-85).
As in Belgrade, the Roca Team took half time to get into their match. Led by Brandon Taylor (19 points, 5 assists), the BCM even led by a short header at halftime (37-38, 20th), helped by Monegasque clumsiness. But when they returned from the locker room, Sasa Obradovic’s men found their face as play-off contenders in the Euroleague.
Donta Hall in control tower
Barely 90 seconds after the restart, Will Thomas already punctuated a 10-0 in favor of the Rock players (47-38, 22nd) with a basket after an offensive rebound on a missed free throw from Yakuba Ouattara.
The Roca Team mostly went back to simple things and easier shots like those alley-oops concluded by ferocious dunks from Donta Hall. Stuffed with good balls by Paris Lee (9 assists), the American pivot made his most prolific copy of the season (18 points at 100% shooting).
More discreet than in the Euroleague, Mike James (16 points) took on the same role of “finisher”. The leader chained two winning shots then a caviar for Yakuba Ouattara, alone at three points, and folded the case on the Rock (82-64, 33rd).
Pending the results of Asvel and Boulogne-Levallois, who play this Sunday afternoon (7 p.m.), Monaco consolidates its second place in the standings. After this grueling week, the Roca Team will be able to take advantage of three days without a match before hosting Zalgiris Kaunas on Thursday in the Euroleague. For its part, Gravelines is 10th, within reach of the top 8.
