The more time passes, the more global warming progresses, and the more unusual weather events occur. 2021 proved it to us again, with the floods at home and other dramas elsewhere in the world.
A population prevention system is proving increasingly necessary, both for climatic phenomena and for health crises like the one we are experiencing.
Belgium has had BE-Alert since 2017, which recently celebrated its millionth registration. In the event of an emergency, the authorities can very easily communicate a message to all their citizens, via SMS, email or telephone. Today, 85% of Belgian municipalities are connected to this system.
Since its launch more than 4 years ago, BE-Alert has been used more than 600 times and has proven itself, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic. ” The National Crisis Center sent a message, after each consultation committee, with an overview of the decisions to all registered e-mail addresses said Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden.
In addition, tests are regularly carried out to ensure the proper functioning of this means of communication.
