VIDEO. An electric cable caused, near Toulouse, the fire of a house in the city center
The firefighters intervened for a large part of the day on Saturday February 5, 2022 to control the fire in a house located in the city center of the town of Merville (Haute-Garonne). The accident was caused by the fall of an electric cable on the roof of the house.
The fire broke out on Saturday February 5 around 9 a.m. in this house with a yellow facade and blue shutters, in the city center of the town of Merville (Upper Garonne)northwest of Toulouse.
34 firefighters and almost a full day were needed to bring the fire under control. The emergency services remained on site until 5:30 p.m., in particular to monitor a possible resumption of the outbreak and to carry out the clearing.
The roof of the house collapsed during the accident. As can be seen in this video taken by a resident and shared on Facebook, electric arcs are visible.
According to a firefighter, the fall of an electric cable would be at the origin of the flames starting on the roof of the house. No injuries would be reported.
Since the beginning of the evening, the firefighters of Haute-Garonne have been engaged in another house fire. A farmhouse, located at a place called Bordé Blanche in the town of Verfeil (Upper Garonne)was still engulfed in flames at the time of publication of this article.
