Toulouse. Demonstrations again banned in the hypercentre
The demonstration against the health pass, which has become a vaccination pass, is once again prohibited in the hypercentre of Toulouse on Saturday February 5, according to a decree from the Haute-Garonne prefecture.
Participants in the demonstration against the health pass, which has become a vaccine pass, could not enter the streets of the hypercentre of Toulouse on Saturday February 5. Indeed, the Haute-Garonne prefecture issued an order for the “prohibition of access to the hypercentre of Toulouse to any undeclared protest rally on Saturday February 5”. Although planned, the demonstration against the health pass is not the subject of a declaration to the authorities.
To justify its decision, the Haute-Garonne prefecture explains that “during previous undeclared demonstrations, it was noted that the barrier measures and social distancing were not respected, which is likely to promote the spread of the coronavirus. Covid-19”.
She also believes that “the absence of a declaration of an event does not make it possible to identify the organizers able to control the number of participants and the respect of barrier measures and social distancing”.
The prefecture also recalls that “disturbances to public order have occurred in the city center of Toulouse during undeclared gatherings in recent months”. She cites as an example “acts of violence within the procession”, “attempts to intrude into the town hall of Toulouse and the regional prefecture” or even “violence, throwing of projectiles and outrages committed on different occasions .”
It should be remembered that the demonstration against the health pass is not prohibited as such, as long as its participants remain outside the hypercentre of Toulouse. The latter have become used to having to stay outside this perimeter because a similar decision has been taken by the Haute-Garonne prefecture before each Saturday since July 2021 and the entry into force of the health pass.
