The town hall of Toulouse reconsiders its decision to close the reception center for exiled minors
After the demonstration organized on Friday in front of the Capitol by unaccompanied minors and the associations accompanying them, the latter contacted Daniel Rougé this Saturday morning to find out their fate. The deputy mayor of Toulouse, in charge of solidarity and inclusion policies, did not answer himself, pronounced the courtesy to Nadège Grille, director general of the CCAS of Toulouse. In an email that we were able to consult, it confirms “that there will be no expulsion leading to a homelessness on Monday, February 7”.
If the news allows the hundred or so minors concerned and the associations to breathe in the short term, it does not entirely reassure them. The ambiguous wording of the e-mail does not allow us to fully confirm the sustainability of the reception center until next April. Another question remains unanswered. “We don’t understand how the town hall went from an eviction order on January 25 to this decision today,” remarks Marie, one of the volunteers from Médecins du Monde mobilized.
The various associations are soon to meet with the town hall, but the latter would like the Department and the prefecture to take part in the round table. The date of this meeting is therefore not yet fixed.
