Nogaro. Tribute to Nicolas Monaco
The Nogarolians, former students, teachers, staff of the college and high school of Nogaro, the former members of the CLAN remember with emotion Nicolas Monaco who has just left us. He was a professor of physics and chemistry never short of innovation.
Racket in hand, he played for several years as a team for the Tennis-Club nogarolien. An active member of the CLAN, he took a major part in the legendary table tennis tournaments, in 1989 he federated the enthusiasm of many young people in the design, construction and firing from the autodrome of mini-rockets. The popular success was considerable both with the public and with schoolchildren throughout the department. This is how some young people from his studio were able to take part in international events. Leaving Nogaro to pursue his professional career at L’Isle-Jourdain, he greatly improved in 1996 the development of the educational component of the museum project of the Cité de l’Espace in Toulouse.
Based in L’Isle-en-Dodon and elected municipal official in charge of culture, in 2011 he invited the “theatre” workshop of the CLAN to come and play in his town the play “A straw hat from Italy”, by George Feydeau. Full house, many students from the local college, a successful evening in every way.
Born in Italy in Abruzzo in 1947 and arrived in France at the age of 7, he represents a fine example of integration and success thanks to the school of the Republic and an extraordinary will. He recounted his modest and remarkable journey in a book published in 2016 under the title “Memories of an Italian immigrant life”.
The recurrence of a nasty illness takes him away prematurely from his relatives and friends. A good guy who gave a lot for his students, the city of Nogaro and the CLAN broke his pipe, carried away by a fatal recurrence. His Nogarol friends are affected.
