The main organizer, Marie-Christine McInnis of Port-Daniel-Gascons, was disappointed, but believed that many had chosen to go to the big start at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning, from Mont-Joli or directly to Quebec.
“The goal is not to have rights and freedoms. The population is disgusted. On so many supports. When you think of the children, of the teenagers who have not had a life for two years, of the elders. The virus is not that bad,” said Ms McInnis who is not against the vaccine.
“I’m 18 and I just want my freedom. I want to continue my life and everything goes back to how it was,” said Noémi Denis, who is part of the convoy.
“I do it against the government’s exaggerated measures. I am in good health, I do not need the vaccine”, declared a sympathizer, Dave, who did not want to give his surname.
According to Ms. McInnis, groups from Gaspé, Amqui, Sayabec and Bonaventure were to join the convoy at Mont-Joli.
Three cars and five police officers from the Sûreté du Québec had been mobilized in Port-Daniel-Gascons to escort the participants to Mont-Joli.
Saturday, the convoy will stop at Saint-Antonin, near Rivière-du-Loup, at La Pocatière, at Montmagny to be in Quebec at the end of the morning.
Another regional convoy, this one, will leave Amqui and Matane to go to Rimouski on Saturday.
