We had seen you naked in the Simca 1000 but, recently, we discovered you naked on social networks. Did the Knights of the Blight convert to naturism?
No, but it was a nod of course to say that we were going to end up naked soon because for two years we haven’t even worked halfway. And then to experience this injustice of supermarkets and churches authorized to receive the public while performance halls cannot, it means that culture is not a priority. We are not doctors and we are the first to trust what they say, but when we say to people ” You can’t be 5,000 seated in a room but, on the other hand, you can be 5,000 in supermarkets or elsewhere ” it is not logical. So our publication on the networks has been shared 1.5 million times, so it appeals to people and our goal has been reached! And then, we’re happy because we won’t have to take our hands off to play! (laughs)
So what is the solution ?
There are not any ! We are very happy that the restrictions on cultural events have been lifted, but we don’t have to position ourselves medically because we don’t know anything about it. We position ourselves socially, that’s all. Especially since at the moment there are 40 million virologists in France, so we are not going to add two more!
What has happened to the Knights of the Fiel for two years?
We have provided TV and radio shows but our teams are no longer doing anything and for our production house it’s clay pigeon shooting. This year we canceled 30 Zeniths, so 30 people are affected and have not worked for two years. And our completely renovated Toulouse concert hall, the Rex, remained closed for 22 months. On the other hand, the Comédie de Toulouse, our room dedicated to humor, remained open against all odds, the play “Folle du Stade” of which I am the author is a hit.
Is optimism still warranted?
Yes, as with our new show, “Works from Hell”, it was a hit on TV during its broadcast and during the first dates that we have already been able to do. It’s great, the audience is hooked!
So let’s talk about it, does it echo the wave of forced DIY experienced during the confinement period?
Yes that’s what inspired me to write it of course! During confinement, everyone was repainting their apartment, their garage, which made the fortune of DIY stores. During the second lockdown they repainted the gate they had already repainted. Me, it makes me laugh all the more since I’m not a handyman at all, so I imagined this room in which the Lambert family is fixing up an apartment and, of course, they are yelling at each other. We play 14 characters and in fact, in the first image of the show, they only have one screw left to put in and, in the last image, the apartment is destroyed because disasters follow one another…
What is your program for the coming months?
We resume our normal Zénith tour with Pau (March 5), the Arena de Bordeaux (March 22) and all the dates that have been postponed I don’t know how many times. We also have a big TV show scheduled for March 18, which will in fact be a big political meeting live on C8. We’re continuing the “Works of Hell” tour and, as soon as I find the time, I’m going to create a new show at the Comédie de Toulouse for the whole group of actors who play in “Folle du Stade”. It’ll be out in the spring and it’ll be a comedy thriller, but we’re also busy with upcoming TV productions and a new show for next year.
