Toulouse. Tyreece Brice: “We have to be careful!”
The American leader Tyreece Brice will be one of the TOAC’s main weapons against Valence Condom, who has become his most serious rival for accession to N2.
Tyreece how did you end up at TOAC?
When I left university, I tried to be a semi-pro in the USA. It did not work. Raph (Editor’s note: Raphaël Pascual, TOAC coach) found me there. He was there for a basket camp. He saw me training and asked me if I was interested in playing in France after university. I said yes. We stayed in touch through Facebook. And here I am at TOAC.
A club where you also train youth teams?
This year, I train the U11s, last year the U15s and again before the U20s. It was difficult with the U20s! The Covid has changed everything too.
Go to N3. What are the reasons for your two defeats in the Landes including that of last Saturday at REAL?
It’s difficult in the Landes with the public right next to the grounds! It’s cold too. We knew before going to REAL that it would be difficult. The match was rigorous. Fairly balanced arbitration. We lost our energy at the end of the match and cracked in extra time.
A word on the Valence Condom match?
You have to win every game. But this one is very important. Valencia moved up the standings. We have to be careful (sic) and play our basket.
How does it feel to you as a leader to play with Ludovic Vaty, a former pivot of the France team?
It’s something new for me. We don’t have many posts like him there. He is super strong and I learn a lot of things with him. He also enjoys playing with me. On mixture. We play well together.
