Tomorrow’s program at the Olympics: direct medal chances for the Netherlands | Beijing Winter Games
On Saturday, the opening day of the 24th edition of the Winter Games, the Netherlands has immediate good chances for the first medals. TeamNL has the favorites in both the 3000 meter speed skating and the mixed relay for the short trackers.
Long track skater Irene Schouten is the big favorite in the 3 kilometers, in which Antoinette de Jong and title defender Carlijn Achtereekte also participate.
Schouten is classified in the tenth and last stage and applies the Italian Francesca Lollobrigida. Achtereekte is already in action in the third stage against Miho Takagi from Japan, while De Jong is placed in stage with the Japanese Ayano Sato. The 3000 meters for women starts at 09.30 Dutch time and can be followed in our live blog.
