LGV: the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, denounces “the selfishness of the ecologists sores” of Bordeaux
For the green mayor of Bordeaux, the people of Toulouse do not have the LGV because of “geography”. “Contemptuous” remarks designated by the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc.
The mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR) did not appreciate the proposals of his Bordeaux counterpart, Pierre Hurmic (Europe Ecologie-Les Verts) who again exhausted the high-speed line (LGV) project between Bordeaux and Toulouse. While the communities of Occitanie had won by financing the LGV between Bordeaux and Paris, the green mayor of the capital of Gironde is a fierce opponent of the extension of the line to Toulouse.

LGV Bordeaux-Toulouse: “There is no funding”, according to the mayor of Bordeaux, Pierre Hurmic
In an interview granted to our colleagues from 20 Minutes, Pierre Hurmic affirms that the financing is not complete: “We can think that in the end, the State will complete the financing? Is it really the State who wants this project? Communities are pushing a lot, whether through the president of New Aquitaine, the president of Occitanie or the mayor of Toulouse. You realize that this project will artificialize 4,800 hectares of space natural resources, forests, vineyards. […] It is a project that is very dated, designed at a time when no one was talking about the environment, and all the necessary high-speed lines have been made”.
Before adding: “When Toulouse residents wonder why they don’t have an LGV and why they are further from Paris than Bordeaux, it’s not the result of history, but of geography. And even when they will have a LGV at 3:30 a.m. to Paris, they will continue to make the round trip to Paris by plane, this is not an alternative”.
“What contempt for the people of Toulouse”
Scandalous statements for Jean-Luc Moudenc who denounces “an attitude revealing the selfishness of boho ecologists”.
“It is easy to adopt such a position when you yourself take advantage of the comfort of being able to get to Paris in 2 hours, objects Jean-Luc Moudenc. France in 3 hours, by train, the means of transport which emits, by far, the least greenhouse gases!”
Before concluding: “Fortunately, our colleagues from the New Aquitaine Region, from the community of Maremne Adour Côte Sud (Macs) municipalities, which includes the seaside resorts of Capbreton and Hossegor or Bordeaux Métropole, have a more collective vision of the “regional planning and ecologically more responsible than that of the mayor of Bordeaux”.
