airport carbon neutral certification
Toulouse continues its progress in greener mobility. Toulouse-Blagnac airport announced to have obtained carbon neutral certification. Sure enough, the terminal has reached the “level 3+ from the program Airport carbon accreditation for its results obtained in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions”, welcomes the airport in a communicated.
Several construction sites
Since 2010, the site has reduced 42% of its gross carbon emissions through its commitment to the program Airport Council International (AIT) Europe. To achieve this goal, the platform has implemented several environmentally friendly actions.
Among the key changes is the purchase of electricity 100% guaranteed from renewable sources since 2015, the energy renovation work of the building stock (lighting, insulation, etc.) or even the reduction of the fleet of service vehicles and their replacement by electric vehicles.
The certification awarded by ACI Europe is an additional milestone in the energy transition process led by ATB, the 3rd French airport to achieve carbon neutrality. […] All together, we have had our practices assessed to reduce our direct emissions and thus contribute to the region’s energy transition,” says Philippe Crébassa, Chairman of the Management Board.
Reduction of carbon emissions
Toulouse-Blagnac airport continues its approach to reduction of its emissions, and also to support its partners. The platform now relies on the purchase of renewable heat, biofuels for service vehicles, on the renovation of buildings, on the development of photovoltaic power plants with self-consumption or even on a plan for commuting employees home / work.
The terminal’s energy transition continues. Next step, the development of a new roadmap to achieve “the objective of net zero carbon emissions”, as the airport has committed to through the resolution Net Zero 2050 of ACI Europe.
