Toulouse: soon new cycle paths on avenue Paul Séjourné, at Les Amidonniers
Avenue Paul-Séjourné, near the Pont des Catalans in Toulouse, will be the subject of work to build permanent cycle paths. They will be integrated into the future Réseau Express Vélo.
The City of Toulouse is making progress with the creation of the Réseau Express Vélo. In this context, the avenue Paul Séjourné, in the extension of the Pont des Catalans on the Amidonniers side, will see the creation of a real cycle path. Work should begin in the coming weeks.
At the end of the 2020 confinement, a corridor dedicated to buses as well as cycle lanes had been created on the avenue. If this temporary arrangement was necessary, it does not however seem satisfactory today, according to the town hall.
In September 2020, 2,800 bicycles used this avenue every day. The town hall has therefore decided to create separate cycle paths. On the Pont des Catalans and Canal de Brienne section of Avenue Paul Séjourné, the cycle path will be carried out on the current service roads, with the objective of creating an off-road cycle route in the form of two tracks.

This new development also aims to improve bus and car traffic. The four parking spaces and the delivery area, accessible from the roadway and not from the service road, will be maintained.
The cost of the work amounts to €260,000, not counting the rework and modifications in connection with the traffic light intersections.
On the other sections, pending repair work on the watertightness of the Brienne bridge and a more comprehensive study to improve the Place Héraclès intersection, the facilities will be improved at the very least but, in the long term, cycle paths will be favored on the entire axis, also indicates the town hall.
Public meeting to present the project on February 7
A redevelopment of the avenue de l’Ancien Vélodrome is also under study, because cyclists and pedestrians using the Bazacle promenade link and wishing to reach the Garonne embankment are currently forced to pass under the Pont des Catalans, on a very narrow sidewalk.
A public meeting to present these projects will take place on Monday 7 February from 6.30 p.m. at the Palais des Sports – VIP lounge n° 2.
