Vladivostok. February 3rd. INTERFAX – FAR EAST – An unusual balloon flight has been arranged in Primorye in honor of the 150th anniversary of Jules Verne’s novel “Around the World in 80 Days,” the Primorsky Branch of the Russian Geographical Society reported.
“The flight will take place on February 8, not far from Ussuriysk, on the birthday of Jules Verne, the founder of the genre of science fiction of French origin. The real symbol of Russia is sent in flight – a Russian samovar with a unique biography,” the message says in Japan.
The organizers report that after the flight, the samovar will be sent by post to France to Jules Verne’s great-grandson, Jean Verne.
“The Russian samovar, which is sent to France, was purchased from the Tula mechanical plant Stamp. In early 2016, it was brought to the city of Uglegorsk (now Tsiolkovsky), where scientists, builders, engineers, employees, guests of the cosmodrome under construction drank tea from it and even the great-grandson of K.E. Tsiolkovsky Sergey Nikolaevich Samburov,” the message says.
Also in the basket will be a shortwave radio amateur radio transfer with battery and antenna, which will notify the whole world about the unusual flight of the balloon. Participants of the action will rise into the sky – a collector of old samovars, a famous traveler, a professional radio operator and a descendant of the musicians Lisitsyns, who opened the first production of samovars 244 years ago.
On the same day, in Vladivostok, a special cancellation ceremony of a special public issue of a limited edition dedicated to the aeronautic expedition in honor of the 150th anniversary of Julien’s novel “Around the World in 80 Days” will be held, in the upcoming special postal envelopes, a postcard, a special cancellation stamp and a certificate that have been in the aeronautical expedition and presented by the Aerostat, Samovar and Tea Posts.
